Support our Big Half runners!
Lewisham local’s, Theo and Darren are taking on the challenge London's iconic half marathon to help us support our young people fulfil their potential.
On Sunday 3rd September, London’s landmarked-packed Big Half marathon returns and Theo and Darren will be running every mile to support Lewisham’s young people on their personal journey.
Youth First provides our young people with a whole range of free support from healthy meals to youth clubs, arts and sports to one-to-one mentoring, so every young person in Lewisham can thrive, whatever their personal circumstances.
With the cost of living crisis your support is needed now more than ever.
Theo and Darren tell us why this run is so important;
Theo
‘During my teen years I attended a youth Centre on a regular basis. Going to a youth Centre provided me with a platform to grow, by exposing me to opportunities and also connected me to different experiences I probably would not have accessed otherwise. At such a pivotal stage of my life the support I received was life changing.
In the current financial climate many youth centres are struggling to stay afloat. I am raising funds for Youth First because I have seen what a difference the work they do makes within the community and more importantly to the lives of children and to young people who access their services.’

Darren
"Youth First give young people a huge range of opportunities right across the borough. I’ve worked closely with them for over three years and sadly seen the effects of funds being cut, youth club opening hours reduced, and the negative impact this can have on the communities.
Seeing this first hand in my community, I felt compelled to compete in this event, although it is my first run above 5k for those who know me well, you'll be wondering what on earth I'm thinking!
So thank you for any donations, they'll be sure to push me over the line and spur me on while I’m training.’
