"Jumpstart to Success" Mentoring and Employment Support Officer

  1. Working Hours: 36 Hours a week 
  2. Salary: £34,910 P/A 
  3. Location: Bellingham and across Lewisham 
  4. Terms of appointment: Temporary post to March 2025 with a potential extension to September 2025

New "Jumpstart to Success" project

This pilot project will offer intensive support for Young People aged 16 to 24 who have been  affected by Covid-19 lockdowns, both mentally and educationally, including the most socially  excluded.  
Mentors will support YP to access live vacancies, placements, and apprenticeships in high  growth sectors that interest YP including creative, green and digital through job brokerage  partners and apprenticeship providers. 
We’ll provide up to 3 months of weekly mentoring, workshops and events. This is an intensive  wraparound for each young person with the aim of entering Education, Employment or Training.  
The project is led by London Borough of Lewisham, Youth First will be hosting the team.  Partnership working is key for the success of the project. This can include co-locating, co hosting events and sessions with youth and community organisations in the borough.  

About you

We are looking to employ four people who will work as a team that complements each other’s skills. You will need to have a passion for seeing young people develop. Your ability to  communicate with young people from diverse backgrounds will be essential. You will need to  have a flexible approach as finding the right solutions for each young is about the person and  not the system.

As the project is time limited, we are looking to recruit on a ‘rolling basis’ with the aim to have  all mentors on board for the beginning of October. Our first shortlisting is scheduled for 9th September, with interviews happening as soon afterwards.
